Logo Designing
Work Completed
I asked a friend who was designing a logo for another friend, if I could join in and learn the process of logo making. We made three logos together and I helped with choosing the font and the style of logo.
Learnings
- Branding
This process consisted of Choosing the color pallet of the logo and texts. I was also involved in choosing the Fonts. You can download a font family and use it for various purposes of each style of the logo. Color Hunt is the website to find color pallets and There are plenty of websites for downloading fonts that can be plugged into almost every software with text. Use color codes to get the right color every single time.
- Colors
RGB is the color intended to be used for digital art work and use. And CMYK is meant to used for printing with ink. I don't know the exact reasoning. I think RGB is lighter and CMYK is darker. When doing any graphic designing this should be kept in mind.
- Font
SERIF is the text like this one with the slight lines on the edges. Whereas SAN SERIF is without these default lines. San serif is considered more modern and is often used for logos. You can have a Serif font logo as well.
- Logo type
A MONOGRAM logo is a logo with just letters. Like "Black Pearl Media" may have a B with an overlapping P as their logo. WORDMARK logos are ones that have just one word as their logo. It may have some type of uniqueness to it but it'll be just one word.
Here are some of the logos I was part of making
Website Designing
Work Completed
Till now I have had a call with my client understanding what she wants her website to do. I have done analysis on what features and styles similar brands in the same Organic Skin Care niche have one their websites. I understood the basic branding requirements like Fonts and Color pallet of my clients existing media. I'm in the process of figuring out which website builder to use and what payment gateway to integrate into the website in the future.
Learnings
- Sections
There are three portions. The Header which is the top part of the website, this is where the branding settings, cart and search etc. would be. Then comes the middle portion where in an ecommerce website their products are displayed. Then come the Footer, This is where the policies, contact info, quick links and payments options would be.
- Basic features
The website should be able to display products, take orders and keep a track of inventory, accept payments, have a tax calculator and have a cart. There are plenty of other small details every website needs but these are what I think are extremely important for now.
- Payment gateway
The payment gateway makes it easy for customers to pay in whatever way they'd like. The payment gateway can usually be plugged into your website through the gateway's API (application programming interface). The payment gateway takes a certain amount from transactions.
Public speaking
Work Completed
We (coversity) had to prepare a 2 min speech on any topic of our liking. I took up Reserve Fractional Banking as my speech's topic. I recollected whatever I remember from the past and I did some research on the math part of it.
Learnings
I wrote a script which, I felt like this was not helping when I needed a detail, because I had to try and find it while speaking. I think keywords would have helped better. I need to slow down a bit and speak more clearly. Speaking fast makes me stutter and I throw in some random words in the process.
