5 Reasons why you aren't improving

 1. You're not playing against high level players: playing with players better than you will force you to perform at their level. Because they might be better at a certain skill, you'll have to find a way to beat them. It could be the same skill but performed better or you would try to come up with a counter solution, a way to better them.

2. You're training without purpose: Don't just wing it. you'll just end up doing something random and wont be focusing on the skills that you might really need. You'll be doing things that you like, not what you need. Come up with a plan and think in detail what is to be done and how you want the perfect execution to be like.

3. Poor work ethic: You have to work hard. That's the only way, there aren't any shortcuts. To be better than someone else you have to do more than them. The work you put in can be more effective if you work harder and smarter than them. Yes the target is to be better than you were yesterday, but it also helps if you compete with a person better than yourself and try to be better than them. You'll be pushing yourself to go a level higher and be better than your competition.

4. You're not failing enough: If you're not failing you're staying in your comfort zone. Which means you're not challenging yourself to be better. Only if you try new things and fail will you learn what to do right. Imagine yourself in Edge Of Tomorrow/Ground Hog Day (whichever you've watched), Learn from the mistakes already made and avoid them, keep failing and find new mistakes. It's okay to make the same mistake again, because sometimes it takes time to recognize the mistake (Happens for the littlest things).

5. No self belief: Have no confidence is gonna limit you and make you find out the easy option and play safe. Whereas if you believe in yourself and trust yourself, you will try new things and maybe succeed or maybe fail. That brings you back to failure which is good, Take what you need to do better, forget the mistake and move on. More self belief comes from repetition, it could be training visualization or even self talk. All of them are just reinforcing what you're supposed to be doing (the right way)

Of course I need to work on these as well, but you could also just check what all you're doing and what you need to work on.

That's it

  1. Lovely write-up
Let me add a sixth one.
One reason people don't improve is that are NOT THINKING about improving. In some ways while they keep cribbing about not improving, they don't do anything about improving. While others, think about it, research about it, talk to people, model people who are doing it and so on...
So simply put people who work towards improving, improve!
