Dhanak Website
Work completed
I haven't made any improvements this week. I was busy with shooting a few videos for Coversity and got caught in making my portfolio. I did try to add a variable product, I faced some issues in when it wasn't being displayed properly on the product page. I had some website malfunction as well but we got it fixed by our hosting service.
Learnings
I think the problem could either be that the theme doesn't support variables, or I didn't enter some critical information that needs to be there. The one new thing I did learn, was that, there are different product type, Simple and variable being two of them.
Portfolio Making
Work completed
I finished one draft of the temporary portfolio. I am planning to make my main portfolio a website, however I'll need time for that, I've decided to do that in the next cycle so around 6 months from now. I have a made a PDF for now that will be easy to share along with an email.
Learnings
I learnt that I have to bring some type of structure to the portfolio. I need to think about what I want to convey first. I was told to bring confidence in the writing, so I used Chat GPT to help me out. I think It's fine to use Chat GPT, Only after you've written something before and then used it for better wording. I learnt that you have to use quite a bit of visuals to make it interesting and interactive for the viewer to look at.
Digital Marketing Research
Work completed
I ran a dummy ad campaign with the sales goal, and sent my notes to my cousin/mentor to receive feedback. I also did research about bid strategies, I understood what all are there and when to use them.
Learnings
I understood that sales campaigns are used for when people want conversions from a landing page or some other platform. Or they want people to message them or call them for further enquiries. From the bid strategies I found out about the different options that are there. I couldn't understand it at the start so I watched a few videos that used some visuals to represent it better. We have Spend based, Goal based and Manual. Each of these have their own sub-strategies. Like Highest volume, Cost per result goal or bid cap. I can't really explain here when to use each of these respectively.
Google analytics
Work completed
I watched a mini course on the contents of google analytics. Understanding the hierarchy was a little challenging for some reason. Me and Kirtika added ourselves to the account. We have to still update the property into a GA4 one.
Learnings
- Hierarchy
At the top is a Google analytics account that can be made by any Gmail ID. Below that you have properties that are basically websites. At the end we have views that are like filters you add to make the reports different.
- Reports
Reports are the different aspects of website analytics that exist. So stuff like Audience, Traffic, Activity etc. Each report has sub-reports as well on different aspects. The video I watched was just running through all of them and showing the viewers what each report displayed.
- Views
As mentioned above views are Different type of filters like Raw data, where everything stays the same. Then we have Master and Test view. Master view is where you can see things from a companies perspective, (Excludes internal traffic). Test view is where you can try out other filters and changes before applying it to your master view.
Thats's it
