Dhrupad's Notebook Edition #3

 Contents of the week

  • Dhanak Naturals Website
  • Coversity Website
I did some other normal Coversity activities that I'm not going to include in my documentation. I had only these two things as my main projects.

Dhanak Naturals Website

Work completed

I made visuals of the home page, I went over it with my client. I had some doubts about the payment gateway and how much they charge that I did research on and found about about it with my client as well. I had a very informative call with Prashant uncle on the whole process of building an e commerce website.

Learnings

  • Website Layout
I used whatever I observed from my analysis last week. I put together all the main aspects as a first rough layout. I made it like freeze frames of scrolling down. I Then put together all the common elements of the websites I analyzed.
  • Woo Commerce
Woo Commerce is a plugin that takes care of a lot of E-commerce needs. I thought woo commerce was only available on the paid WordPress plan on Wordpress.com. But It's after my talk with Prashant uncle I found out it is actual a free plugin but has some extra features that require a paid plan.
  • Policies
This was also covered in my call with Prashant Uncle. Your Privacy policy, Cancelation policy and Terms of use should be publicly displayed on the website by law. Your customers can see how their private information is being kept safe. Your payment gateway will check your cancelation policy to see if it suits them.
  • Research on The Laws
This came up when discussing about shipping partners. I need to research whether shipping profitable goods through India Post is legal and if not, I should find a shipping service that is legal for Dhanak's specific use. I also think In general I should do some research on a lot of the important stuff and see whether I need to take some extra steps to make it legitimate.

Here are the pictures of the rough sketch I made of the websites home page.

Coversity Website

Work completed

We first thought of how the home page should show the different Journeys and what would be displayed before that. Then the next day we thought of ideas for what each journey should be like in their own pages. After that me and Sriya worked on what we thought the flow should be on the website. That wasn't detailed, so tomorrow we'll sit down and plan it out in detail.

Learnings

This was the first time I was trying to think about how the user will understand what we're trying to convey. I found it hard to ask those kind of questions. After actually questioning. I will now ask these questions for Dhanak's website as well. I also think it will come at later stages while testing the usability and customer experience.

That's all for now
