Defending tips from my coach

Here are a few basic positioning points for defending in a back four.

1. Far side fullback should face diagonally to the opposite ends corner flag so that he can watch the ball on the other side and also the winger on his side.

2. When one CB goes forward to win a ball, the full back on that side and the other CB have to create a triangle by dropping back in case he doesn't win the ball.

3. When the whole defense line is shifting to the other side. The full back should only shift till the second post of the goal. Otherwise too much space for the winger on his side.

4. the ball is with a CAM in the middle and he's looking to play the winger. As a full back first step is to close the gap between himself and the CB next to him, so that the ball doesn't go through. Once it goes out he can sprint and close him down there.

This is for the defensive shape and stuff. for positioning during attacking play I'll write next week when the coach explains this stuff.

That's it
