Putting pressure on the person
As I have written in my daily reflections. My pressing has been very bad, I don't cut a side completely and the person just takes a touch and beats me. I keep getting frustrated at myself for this.
Then I realized that the purpose for putting pressure on someone is not always to win the ball. It's to force him to go somewhere. My main objective is to block a passing lane or a space he can run into. So it's not bad if I just cover the space and force him backwards. Pushing him back is what will help the team. Not going in for the ball without cutting anything and then letting him past me.
To put it together, I need to stay a little towards his side and press so that I'm completely blocking any chance of him going forward and past me. I shouldn't be too much to the side or else he'll just take a touch straight where I came from. I can then go fully for the ball as I've now blocked the space I thought he was going to. Basically put full pressure on him and forget about stealing the ball till you've blocked his options of advancing forward with the ball.
Make him go back and don't let him past easy.
That's it
