Turning with a defender on your back

This is something I don't do well. I take my touch down the line most of the time, I then lose it because it's gone too far away. Also when I take my touch to the side I take it right into the path of someone.

1. scan and check behind you, see whether he's right next to you or do you have time?. Scan for whether there's anyone behind him. If there is you'll have to calculate how fast your touch should be and which side of the defender you'll want to go.

2. Arm out, Keep your arm out to feel where the person is. This helps so that you can focus more on the ball and still know where the defender is. You can feel which side he's and then take the ball in the opposite direction.

3. Use shoulders for deception. Point your shoulder in the opposite direction of where you're planning on going. He will automatically shift over slightly to that side and you can take your touch in the other direction. This will only work if you're planning on using the outside foot to take your touch.

4. Use your outside foot. Because if you try to use the inside foot, your legs will be crossed and that'll slow you down after taking the touch or the ball could hit on the other leg while trying to take the touch. Think of the outside foot turn as a touch/step, using the outside foot will not only make sure you're hips are facing where you want to go, but you will also be in a better stance to take of and run.

Diagonal touches behind you are best done using the outside foot.

That's it
