Scanning with purpose part II
Last time I talked very vaguely about what all I want to scan about. I'll go a little more into detail about 4 different things to look out for while trying to collect information (scanning).
1. First touch: Here I want to be looking at pockets of space where I can take my first touch into. They could be blocked by a defender, but if I identify that space and 2 seconds later it opens I'll know I have to take my touch there, because I already though of it before. I need to look for whether they have another play behind this man. If I do beat my man and get into that space, I need to know how much time before the other man comes at me. I'll have to manage the weight of the first touch.
2. Runs: Here I will be again looking for free space to run into, but now it is behind the defense. I have to see if I am offside and check back or drop down accordingly. I have to look for how to make the run, what angle will cut my defender off the ball if it is played. I have to how much closer to the line I need to go or do I need to hold my run and stay back for the cut back etc.
3. Passing options: I need to see what all options I'll have to pass at all times. I need to have at least 2 passing options (they don't have to be open but as long as I know my teammates can move when I receive the ball that's fine, if they don't move I can shout and ask them to move where I want them to). I have to see what options I'll have when I move into the space I'm considering to go into.
4. Where the goalkeeper at: This is more for shooting and rebounds. I am pretty familiar with this but still... it could be better. Here I want to be looking at where the keeper is standing. First post? Second post? Third post? If he's on first I finish on second vise versa and for center I have to options to shoot on in the side. That was about the sides. Now I also need to see how far from the goal he is, If he's way off his line than I can try and chip him.
These are a few thing I want to work on while scanning. That's it
