Learning finishing from Julian Alvarez
I was recently finding it tough to finish when I'm with a couple of defenders in the box. I was watching a video of Julian Alvarez who is a good striker who finishes under pressure. Here is what I take away from him.
1. Look at the goal not man: I normally stress over the fact that there are defenders around me and the thought of them blocking the ball make me stall play and that results in a shot being blocked even if I get one off. I think he's focusing more on where he could finish it instead of the defender. If you look at the goal more and only focus on the shot it'll probably go in, if the defender gets a block than that's good defending.
2. Poaching: He is always up there waiting for a rebound and then charging forward to it. When you poach you stay slightly back just in case the ball is further from goal. if you're closer to goal and the ball goes back, you cant do anything. If you're behind and the ball comes front you can charge forward to it. Also staying slightly towards second post gives you a bigger poaching ground, allowing you to get to more amount of balls.
These are the main things I take away from him That's it
