How to make the defender believe the run

 These are the points on how to make the defender believe your decoy run. 

1. Make it visible: The defender has to see the run to believe it, therefore you have to run from in front of him, as running from behind will not let him see you. 

2. Ask for it: To make it look more realistic, ask for the ball from your teammate. This way he really thinks the ball is about to come. However this could also cause confusion with your teammate, as he may think you're actually asking for the ball. To avoid the confusion, ask for it slightly softly so that only the defender and the people near you hear it and not the teammate with the ball. 

3. Run into open space: Running into an open space makes it look more believable because you usually receive in open spaces.

4.  Tiny details: Fool them. make him think you're gonna make the run. Do it my small stuff like shoulder drop, checking in and out switching hip facing direction.
