Dribble effectively
This is something I'm still working on. I find myself losing 1v1 situations and losing the ball in general because I don't know how to dribble efficiently or it doesn't come to mind at that time.
Dribble with speed: Dribbling with speed is gonna keep your opponent guessing and will make life difficult for him because he'll have less time to react the faster you go.
Stay on your toes: When someone says "stay on your toes" they mean the balls of your feet. The balls of your feet is the hard between the toes and the arch of the foot. Standing on them will let you react quickly and change direction fast. It's a state of readiness to go anywhere and in any direction. One way to improve this as a habit is to focus on running on the balls of your feet while going somewhere. The coach who I'm getting this from stated that he used to run to classes using the balls of his feet to get used to it. Running on the balls of your feet also keeps the foot at a better angle to push the ball with each step, this is a good attribute for a good dribbler that keeps the ball with him.
Flick the ball: While dribbling past someone instead of just simply pushing the ball past them, flick it slightly. This is better than just pushing it because it could just hit the defender leg and go off of you. Whereas if you flick it it has a better chance of clearing the defender as his feet are on the ground and not in the air. Same thing for a 1v1 situation, flick it when you push it out to the side, this will help it clear the outstretched leg of the defender. Also you can hit the ball better after flicking it and it bouncing, you would be able to make better contact on the ball (full contact as the bottom of the ball will also be exposed due to it being in the air).
That's it for this one
