Play the way you're facing
It's way easier to play the way you're facing rather then where you're not facing. So just play the way you're facing!. I sometimes don't do this, I try to play passes across my body and most of the time the ball is all bouncy and hard for my teammate to control.
Playing a pass directly ahead is the most comfortable way to do it, so why not do it the whole game? Because you might receive the ball facing your own goal and then you'll have to pass it back every time right?. To fix this Receive already facing the direction you want to make a pass into or turn while receiving the ball (like a half turn). Then you can play the ball progressing forward towards the opponents goal.
Striking the ball wise playing it somewhat in the same direction you're facing lets you put more power behind the ball, a better follow through and way better contact on the ball.
That's it
