Drawing out the full back
This is something I know but didn't use it during my game or during last week's training sessions. I realized I had to do this more, during training on Thursday.
I dropped down and wide to the sideline to receive the ball. The LB followed me out leaving a wide gap between him and the CB, My RB (The one who had the ball) played a really well weighted pass in between that space. I didn't read the situation and then just shook my head at what happened. Latter in the game I did pull it off properly, I kept it in mind after missing the first one.
It's like the supporting drill I practice. Th drill has me drop down and wide to the line, scan to see if the defender followed me or he didn't move. Then depending on the situation I would receive the ball from my training partner. If the defender followed me down then I would ask my partner to play the ball in the space behind him, However, if the defender stood where he was I would ask my partner to play the ball to my feet.
I need to use this consciously the next training session and get it engraved into my brain as one of the important runs, along with curved runs, blindside runs etc.
That's it
