Defensive Objective

The main objective for defense is to not let the opposition get past you, It shouldn't be winning the ball. However I think this varies from position to position. Like for the defenders and defensive midfielders the main goal is to not let them past you. But for the attacking positions it is not letting them past as well, but it also has to be winning the ball. Because if we win it high up the pitch it makes us less vulnerable.

I feel like I sometimes focus more on winning the ball instead of not letting them past. Because of the winning the ball mindset I commit a little too much I feel, and I run and get too close to the other person, all he does is take one touch and beat me.

I need to first fix my position and block of the options to go forward and then try to make him play back or win the ball right there. For this I need to scan and see his options, then block them off to make it easier for myself. I need to keep a little distance so that I can react to whatever he does and take a quick decision.

That's it
