What Went Wrong In My Run Making During My Match
I talked to my coach yesterday about what went wrong in my run making and supporting during the match I had on Wednesday. It was a very small thing that I could've corrected if I would've asked him during half time after he told I didn't know when to make the runs.
The mistake I was making was, dropping down to support my fullback when he was free and making runs when he had pressure on him. I'm supposed to be dropping down when he has pressure on him from their winger and I should be making the runs behind the defense when he doesn't have pressure and can put a long ball behind the back line.
Another thing I could've done better was supporting from different angles. I was only supporting wide and sometimes my full back is right next to the line and cant pass because their winger can just stretch his leg and get the ball. and even if he thins he can take a touch to the side and pass there's no space because he's right next to the line. I need to come inside and support to create a different passing option.
I was making my runs after the ball is played. I need to start just before the ball is released or when it's being released. I need to also predict that it's going to deflect from a certain play and go in behind, I need to start that run a little early so that I get an upper hand over the defenders.
That's it
Perhaps discuss this in detail with you r full back - so that you all are in sync
