Dribbling

I was reading an article on how to improve dribbling and the first thing they say is "Moving the ball".

Moving the ball: I think this is really important, because normally what I/others would think is the body feint and step overs. We think about the move to deceive the defender rather than just being able to move the however we want to. All the best dribblers know how to push/touch the ball to make sure it goes where they want. They can also quickly react to the defenders movements and change the direction the ball is going in.

The quick change of pace: This is really important and I'm disappointed that I hadn't learned about sooner. Running straight at the defender at the same pace will make it extremely easy for the defender to anticipate your move. Changing speed is the key, even if you don't change direction but stop and start the ball it will make him stop as well and give you an advantage. The key I think is to slow him down by slowing down yourself and then quickly accelerate and leave him in the dust.

Mislead: This is the part to which a lot of people directly skip to. This is where you drop your shoulder or do a step over or something like that. The idea is to make the defender think you're gonna do X but you then do Y. This can also be a fake pass or a fake shot, it doesn't always have to be a fancy skill move. And from my understanding the body feint is the most effective move, you can also add it to a lot of moves but that is the most effective move to learn.

That's it
