First time shooting

I have observed one teammate of mine who is very good at hitting the ball when it's moving. I want to learn how to do that, cause it automatically cuts time of stopping the ball. even if you take a good touch and set yourself up efficiently, it still takes time to do that. Whereas taking a first time shot doesn't need that extra second or two.

The first thing I take it to keep eye contact on the ball through out the shot. If I can't see what part of the ball I'm hitting it's gonna go far from where I want it to go.

Don't try to smash it, trying to smash it makes us forget the basics and most of the time people under hit it and it goes way over the crossbar, sometimes it don't even make it anywhere near the frame of the goal. So add power only when you're composed and have all the other steps (plant foot, hand out, eye on the ball, contact on foot and ball) in place. Another thing to keep in mind is that the ball already has momentum and you don't need to generate a lot of power. That might be another reason why it goes over the crossbar. Because adding extra power to a ball that already has power will give too much power needed.

Put planting foot a little ahead or a little behind the ball (based on witch side it's rolling towards). The ball is moving and if you place your foot where you think is beside the ball, by the time you hit it, it slightly behind or ahead of the ball. It has to be beside it.

Hit the middle of the ball, this is pretty simple. Hitting it low on the ball would make it go up, hitting it high on the ball will make it bounce, and if you hit it too much to the side, there isn't gonna be good enough power in it.

That's it
