Stop doing ab circuits

Too much volume: Performing lng circuits multiple times a week simply isnt effective. These core circuits genarally focus on too much volume. They put more emphasis on "Getting a burn" rather than the quality of each exercise and actually improving on the pitch.

No progressive overload: There is no pregressive overload also! These traditional core circuits use the same load withiut really progressing the monements. The core is made up of muscles just like any other part of your body. So why don't we treat the core like any other muscle group.

Wrong exercises: When it comes to core ciruits, common exercises are sit ups, crunches etc. The problem with these exercises is that they only focus on the anterior core muscles (abdominal muscles). The core consists of much more than that. The exercises dont tranfer over to perfomance on the pitch either. The natural role of the core is to resist movement, not create it. Exercises that focus on this helps footballers stabalize the hips and spine during movements, therfore allowing for greater ability to transfer energy throughout the body.

What exercises should I focus on then?

Anti-rotaion: Pallof press, shoulder taps, cable chops

Anti-extension: Plank, stir the pot, dead bugs

Anti-lateral flexsion: Side plank, single arm farmers walk, copenhagens

That's it
