Shielding mistakes

Here are a few mistakes I might be making when I need to shield the ball from a defender.

1. Let the opponent get around me: I need to keep moving around and make sure that my body is between him and the ball. I see two ways to do this. 1. Move my body and get in front of him and 2. Move the ball and keep it on the other side of my body.

2. don't expose the ball: For example if I want to go in the direction the opponent is. Instead of  trying to turn right there and do a 1v1 skill. I can push the ball out, away from him and then go into that direction. They can still reach the ball by putting their leg around me. So I need to keep my leg outstretched with the ball.

3. Standing upright: If I stay too upright and don't have a wide enough stance I'll get easily pushed of the ball. I have to keep my legs spread apart and stay low. before the second lockdown I was trying to get a ball from my teammate and he was really low, his legs were spread a lot.

4. Having my back facing opponent: If I do this I have to look all the way back and check if he's trying to do something. I also cant use my hands effectively. therefore I need to stay side on and keep my arm out. I will be able to see him and I can keep the ball further from him. This would also apply for while receiving the ball with and opponent right on your back. Staying side on I can receive the ball and i'll already be in position to pass to the side.
