How I watch matches to analyze
Watching a match can be either for entertainment or you could use it to learn from the pro players. Right now I do match analysis 6 times a week. I try to pick stuff from the pros game.
What are the different ways you can do analysis?
1. Track a player: Follow one player for however long you want to and try to observe every single detail. See how he positions his body in a certain situation. See where he is positioned on the field. Observe the runs he makes, see what kind of touches he uses and watch the passes.
2. Find a certain play: Try to find a play, any type of run, formation, pass, touch. Identifying this would help you see the opportunity while playing. Identifying a formation can give you information on how to break it. The formation could also give information on what type of run you could make.
3. Observe a skill: Watch in detail how the player executes a certain skill. It could be different types passes, first touch and so on. These are different from the ones above because here You're observing how the skill is performed, not where and what the other players are doing.
4. Predict: This one is pretty self explanatory. Here you keep talking like a commentator but... instead of saying what's happening at the moment, you talk about what might happen or what is going to happen.
For all of this you can slow down the video, run it back and pause it etc.
That's it
